I took a ride on the Santa Express in search of Christmas Spirit.

Arriving at the station early, I found that tickets needed to be purchased as much as 4 months before along with several other explorers arriving after me the conductor made room for everyone wanting to take the Santa Express in search of the jolly man dressed in red.

All Aboard! The all-electric Santa Express slowly chug, chug, clank out of the station rumbling, inching its way down the tracks into the woods as excited children cheered in anticipation we were headed to the North Pole.

One Santa helper served hot chocolate, one gave out cookies and one shared readings of Santa's Scenic Valley Ride by Misty McNally throughout the trip.

Santa's Scenic Valley Ride "There's a blizzard on the Iowa frontier, so Santa takes his first train ride to deliver gifts to the children there.Misty McNally"

Each of the cars shined in Christmas lights strung throughout casting a glow as it traveled descending  deeper and deeper into the woods over the 156-foot high Bass Point Creek and Des Moines River bridge.

Excitement grew from children singing We Wish you a Merry Christmas, Santa Claus is Coming to town and Let it Snow could be heard from the engine to the caboose.

Clank, clink to a rolling stop the train came humming on its wait for Santa to board.  It was a pajama party children aglow dressed in princess gowns and batman PJs complete with the pitter patter of booty feet surrounding Santa he gave each a bell.  Taking delight in ringing their bells filling the cars with laughter as Santa stepped off the train back to the North Pole.
